Our Planning Experts' Favorite Resorts

Robin Wright says: I like All Star Sports. It has a such fun vibe! The football section is my favorite. There were always kids playing outside and just a fun atmosphere. The rooms are close to the bus stop, lobby, and food court. The rooms have 2 double beds, table with 2 chairs, mini fridge, safe on the wall, as well as a curtain to close off the dressing area and bathroom. I also like that I can decorate our windows!

From Vacation Specialist Bonnie Polan: We have two favorites, deluxe would be Beach Club, for location and general ambience. Moderate would be Port Orleans French Quarter!

Guest Blogger Lynne Macolini says," I have a couple of favorites. First I like the Deluxe villas for the full kitchen, washer & dryer, and the HUGE tub. For the Deluxe Villas I like Old Key West the best so far. The only downside is that they do not have elevators. I also like Saratoga Springs but the kitchen is much smaller there. For a non kitchen room, I loved the Boardwalk Garden Room- Concierge Level. We loved the concierge room where we could get breakfast, snacks, and even cocktails at night which was included in the price of our room. The room was adorable, we had our own little flower garden, and walkway in front of our room. t looks like we were heading to our own little cottage."

Vacation Specialist Chrissie Lograno-Weinstein says, "I have favorites in each category!" Here they are:

Value Resort: Disney's Art of Animation Resort! I love the real Disney feel of being there, you really do feel like you are immersed in the movies when you're there! The space in the Family Suites is fabulous and we do love the food court! The multiple options are fabulous for our family. The pool, while not having a slide is still so much fun for the kids, you can hear Nemo & friends when you're underwater and the splash pad play area is great for the littles! Moderate Resort: Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter! I love the size of this resort, no waiting for buses but still spread out enough that you can enjoy a walk around the resort! The food court is primarily New Orleans inspired but there's something for everyone. The pool area is great and the kids love the slide. POFQ also has just been updated to include a kids' water play area! The rooms are a good size with 2 queen beds and you know you're in Walt Disney World but it's still quiet enough to enjoy downtime. Deluxe Resort: Here's where I'm torn! I LOVE Stormalong Bay at Disney's Beach Club Resort and Disney's Yacht Club Resort (yes, they share a pool area!) but I also love Disney's Polynesian Resort. I feel like you really can't go wrong staying in either resort! The rooms at Poly definitely feel bigger to me and I just love the feel of walking around surrounded by the lush greenery of the resort. Captain Cook's is a great quick service location with a pretty big menu! Their pool area is amazing and their kids' water play area can entertain kids even as old as 6! Of course, being able to sit by the sand and watch Wishes as they are going off in Magic Kingdom is a HUGE plus for me as well. The Beach and Yacht Club resorts are beautiful and the rooms are great but the pool.... the pool is phenomenal! The lazy river area, the sand bottom area, the huge pirate ship slide. It's an amazing location and, without a doubt in my mind, the best pool area on property! Quick service options are quite limited but it's a boat to Boardwalk and you can walk to Epcot and (as long as you have a park hopper to be able to enjoy Epcot along with other parks that day) indulge in quick service options in either of those locations Deluxe Villa Resort: There are only 2 stand alone Deluxe Villa Resorts in Walt Disney World, the others are 'attached' or alongside Disney Resorts. I obviously love Beach Club Villas since they also share in Stormalong Bay but I have to be honest, my favorite villa I've ever stayed in is a Savanna View at Animal Kingdom Resort. I LOVE being able to wake up in a king bed and have a balcony to have a fresh cup of coffee overlooking zebras, giraffes and other animals I'd never see from home! The kids are entertained matching the animals outside our room to a directory of animals that is left in the room and I love the setup of the villas. They seem slightly larger than some of the newer villas. Of course, being a part of Animal Kingdom Lodge means you can use the pool there and it's a phenomenal pool, we loved it there!!

Vacation Specialist Mary Graham has two favorite resorts. In the Moderate Category it's Port Orleans - Riverside. It's the only Moderate that feels more like a Deluxe. The rooms have been updated and I like the ones in Alligator Bayou with the extra, pull down bed. My kids get separate sleeping space that way. I also think the grounds are landscaped so beautifully! It really offers a peaceful oasis from the hustle bustle of the parks. In the Deluxe category, while my family loves several of these resorts, I have to give it to the Wilderness Lodge as my personal favorite. This was our first Deluxe resort and I will never forget walking into the majestic lobby and just saying WOW! My children participated in the rubber ducky race here and they love the bunk beds too.

Whitney Mattox (Vacation Specialist): As many others have mentioned, I love Port Orleans French Quarter as well! But I have two favorite moderates, and the other one is Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. I think the view below speaks for itself. It is a breathtaking resort, with some of the most delicious Mexican food I have ever had! I love the walk to El Centro (main building). Some complain about the walk, but it's too pretty for me to mind it. If you want to be in a central location, request the Cabana section. This is in between El Centro and The Dig Site (main pool).

The rooms are a good size, with Queen beds. Unlike some rooms at Port Orleans Riverside and Caribbean Beach, this moderate can only accommodate 4 guests in a standard room. The pool is one of our favorite things about the resort, and my girls loved their playground.

Coronado is a "Convention" resort, which often turns people off. I will say that we have stayed many times and never had an issue. Typically it seems that we wait less for buses during normal times, since many of the guests are inside at their conventions.
