Hurricane Irma roared through Florida over the weekend, causing widespread power outages, flooding and damage to homes and businesses. Disney World was extremely fortunate, however, and the parks have re-opened today, Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
While some trees came down, and crews work to clear those, the four theme parks are up and running. The two water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach remain closed today, however.
Fort Wilderness Cabins & Campground also remains closed and are being checked for safety today. Because the Fort Wilderness Resort is closed, there will be no performances of Mickey's Backyard BBQ nor Hoop de Dee Revue today. Trails End is also closed today.
Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay re-opened today as well.
Anyone planning to arrive in the next couple of days should check with their airline for any flight cancellations and delays. Those driving to the Orlando area should use caution as Irma has impacted roadways and the availability of fuel along the way.
